NUTTY NUTS
==========

My entry for the Allegro Speedhack Competition 2005.

This is a simple game where you control a squirrel which is trying
to reach the top of a tree using three balloons. You have to take
all the hazelnuts you find in your way to advance to the next level,
while avoiding the attacks of evil wildcats that shoot their claws to
you from the tree.

Controls
--------

DIRECTION KEYS: move the squirrel. Gravity will make you go slowly
upwards and fast downwards.
ENTER: Select an option of the game.
ESC: Finish the game.

Speedhack Rules
---------------

Survival
The squirrel must keep floating or it will fall to its death.
The whole point of the game is keep alive during the four levels.

Make it a Classic
I chose the option "Maximum of 320x200 game resolution and maximum of
16 simultaneous colors".

Randomness
The levels are configured randomly: the position of the hazelnuts and
the spawining of enemies. The difficulty in each level is increased
by increasing the chance of enemies appearing and the speed of their
shoots.

Dichotomy
Hunter/Prey. The wildcats try to kill the squirrel because the want
to eat it.

World Map.
Since the level is pretty much random and its length depends of the
number of hazelnuts you have, there's a little map of a tree that
shows approximately where you are given those parameters.

Act of IP (Bonus).
Not implemented.

Compilation
-----------

Use the included makefile.bat (mingw32) or Makefile (linux gcc).

All the images were created by myself during the time of the
competition, and the sounds were gathered from free sources over
the Internet.
